No Grit, No Pearl. No Pressure, No Diamond.

In the mist of this challenging year, it can be difficult to gaze ahead with positivity when the circumstances seem insurmountable. This year has been tough without a doubt! We have been on, what seems like, and endless rollercoaster. Some of us mourn from the loss of loved ones; many people have lost jobs. This Covid-19 pandemic has resulted with a lot of sadness and pain. One thing is for sure, you are not in this alone.

We have to stay grounded with positivity, purpose, and hope. Let's look ahead with a positive mind and gratitude as we welcome a new year and have faith that it will be a great one. Faith is the assurance of things that we hope for and the evidence of things not seen.

If you happen to feel defeated as you reflect on this past year, think of yourself as a pearl. Pearls are formed when a grain of sand or grit gets inside of an oyster. The oyster is lined with what's called nacre. Once the grain of sand enters the oyster, it begins to cover that sand as a defense mechanism with layers upon layers of nacre. This forms the pearl. We have many obstacles that lie ahead. Just as that pearl was formed, we will overcome despite the "layers" of trials we have endured this past year and may encounter in the new year. Remember that you are resilient. Just as diamonds are formed by pressure, we too are resilient enough to turn that pressure into motivation to be a better version of ourselves.

Although we are social distancing, we can reach out to others who may be struggling to "just make it" through the next day let alone this new year. Call a loved one; check on a friend. As the year comes to an end, lets reflect on the positive moments from this year that brought us joy and let us carry those joyful moments into the year 2021.

Blessings to you and your family. Happy New Year!
